Top 5 Finish for Performance Tech Motorsports at VIR

Performance Tech Motorsports wrapped up their weekend at VIRginia International Raceway with a Top 5 finish in Race 2 this past Sunday. The penultimate round of the IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge championship came with some obstacles for the team, but Alex Kirby and Jordan Menzin persevered and showed great determination on board their respective #7 L.A. Prep Ligier JSP320 and #18 Ligier JSP320 machines.

Full-season driver Alex Kirby had some ups and downs throughout the weekend, with an early retirement from Race 1 following an off-track incident. However, he came back stronger in Race 2, claiming a Top 5 result and challenged for podium positions in the process.

Despite the challenges, he maintained fourth place in the P3 class championship standings, now sitting on a total of 2,360 points. As the team prepares for the final double header of the year, he will be in a position to fight for a spot in the Top 3.

“It wasn’t an easy weekend, but there are still a lot of positive takeaways,” said Alex Kirby. “As much as I wish I could have capitalized on more points in the first race, we recovered well overall and my focus will be on putting together two solid results in the final event of the year at Road Atlanta. I want to thank the entire Performance Tech Motorsports team for their hard work and support. Their efforts were imperative in helping me bounce back in Race 2.”

Jordan Menzin displayed continuous improvement throughout the event, learning the ins and outs of the notoriously difficult track and expanding his skillset and consistency. Additionally, he also set the third-fastest lap time in Race 1, followed by the fourth-quickest lap time in Race 2.

“VIR is a challenging track, and I’m pleased with my progression over the course of the weekend,” stated Jordan Menzin. “We had good pace and were able to clock in some competitive times, and it shows that we’re making good strides.”

"I'm very proud of the resilience and determination our team showed this weekend,” added Team Owner Brent O’Neill. “Both Alex and Jordan displayed a lot of tenacity on track, and remained focused when things got hard. I’m thankful to work with a group of such hard working people, the entire Performance Tech Motorsports crew remain hungry as we shift our focus to the final round at Road Atlanta. We’ll be ready to push for even stronger results.”

Performance Tech Motorsports will be back on track for the final round of the IMSA VP Racing Sportscar Challenge from October 9th to 12th for MOTUL Petit Le Mans at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.
