Performance Tech Motorsports Gears up for Action Packed Weekend at Mid-Ohio

Performance Tech Motorsports enters the Mid-Ohio SportsCar Challenge week armed with two Ligier JSP320’s and a craving for podium champagne.

The team is rolling into Lexington, Ohio fresh off a third-place finish in the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring with the No. 38 Cardio Access Ligier JSP320. The team also brings the No. 6 Ligier JSP320, an IMSA Prototype Challenge entry that is set for Round 2 after a three month break in the schedule. The team hopes to exit the combined weekend with new hardware and strong points for both prototype machines.

While the calendar shows a prolonged gap since the last event for both cars, Team Principal Brent O’Neill and his crew have been hard at work maximizing the break to get the cars set for the roller coaster that is Mid-Ohio Sportscar Course.

“Mid-Ohio is such a great track for these cars,” O’Neill said. “It takes a lot of skill from the drivers and a ton of work from our engineer Nathan and the rest of the crew to get these cars dialed in to the unique layout, but once we get it right it’s like watching rocket ships out there. Dan and Rasmus had a wild weekend last year and still managed to finish third, so I know they can top that finish this season in the No. 38. Oscar has done a lot of prep and testing since Daytona so I think him, and Dan will be real contenders as well in the No. 6.”

If you followed the 2021 season on the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship then it will come as no surprise that Dan Goldburg and Rasmus Lindh have teamed up once more to contest for a championship in the No. 38. Their chemistry as a driver pairing is unmatched in the LMP3 class, as seen last year when they managed to finish in third place in this event after an engine failure left them starting the race in the No. 6 chassis, rather than the No. 38. They took that obstacle in stride and emerged victorious, giving them even greater confidence when heading onto the 13 turn, 2.258-mile circuit.

While the No. 6 Ligier JSP320 has experienced Mid-Ohio’s podium champagne disguised as the No. 38, it has yet to enter victory lane in IMSA Prototype Challenge; drivers Oscar Bitar and Goldburg hope to remedy that this weekend. With help from Goldburg, Bitar has spent the past months further acclimating to the Ligier JSP320 and all the series nuances. This coaching will be put to the test Sunday, May 15, for IMSA Prototype Round 2 at 9:25 a.m. ET.

You can watch IMSA Prototype Challenge Round 2 live through its entirety on Peacock TV, or listen live with IMSA Radio. The team has a quick turn around on Sunday, May 15, with the Mid-Ohio SportsCar Challenge going green at 2:20 p.m. ET, live on USA Network, Peacock TV and IMSA Radio.
