Performance Tech Motorsports to Run the No. 6 Chassis in Back-To-Back Races

Performance Tech Motorsports will enter the No. 6 Motel 6 Ligier JSP320 as the No. 38 in the Sports Car Challenge Presented by TLX Type S at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course today, May 16.

Performance Tech Motorsports began the weekend with two near-identical Ligier JSP320’s, both piloted by Dan Goldburg and Rasmus Lindh. The difference laid in the respective series specifications; IMSA Prototype Challenge (IPC) specifications for the No. 6 and IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship (IWSC) specifications for the No. 38.

During the 15-minute IWSC qualifying session Goldburg reported a major mechanical issue causing the No. 38 to shut down on track. The team investigated deeming it a catastrophic engine failure. After further discussion internally and with IMSA the existing No. 38 Ligier JSP320 was declared damaged beyond repair and unable to race.

With no VK56 engine’s available, the sanctioning body has permitted the team to enter the No. 6 in the No. 38’s place.  In order for the No. 6 to compete as the No. 38 the following must be adjusted: digital number boards, series decal stickers, transponder and it must clear technical inspection for both series.

The race is now on for the Performance Tech Motorsports’ team as they work to add IWSC specifications to the No. 6. After successfully competing IPC Round 3 the team will have approximately one hour to complete any changes necessary in time to make the recon lap at 1:10 p.m. ET in preparation for the Sports Car Challenge Presented by TLX Type S.  Tune in live at 2:30 p.m. on NBCSN or NBC Sports Gold TrackPass to watch the team push to defy the odds and finish on the top step of the podium.
