Two is Better Than One

Performance Tech Motorsports in doubling down at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course with drivers Dan Goldburg and Rasmus Lindh driving in IMSA Prototype Challenge and the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship.

The team is set with the No. 6 Motel 6 Ligier JS P320 and the No. 38 JS P320 for the twisting and technical 13 turn, 2.26-mile track featuring renowned sequences such as the China Beach, Thunder Valley and the Keyhole. The circuit’s drastic elevation changes and fast-paced corners create a perfect storm for high-downforce prototypes alluding to intense battles from Practice 1 through the checkered flag.

Team Principal Brent O’Neill is eager to get both of the team’s cars back on track after remarkable pace at Sebring International Races, the last event.

“Without a doubt we had the car to win in Prototype Challenge and the 12 Hour at Sebring in March,” O’Neill said. “Unfortunately, we were plagued by rule breaking competitors in Prototype Challenge and mechanical demons in the 12 Hour. But we have the drivers, the pace and the experience at Mid-Ohio to make this a great weekend. I’m excited to get the boys back on track and bring home the first win of the season. This weekend will be a lot for Rasmus and Dan, but I have no doubt that they can do great in both series.”

The No. 6 Motel 6 Ligier JS P320 enters the weekend riding the momentum of its second-place finish during IMSA Prototype Challenge Round 2.  With Goldburg and Lindh at the helm the No. 6 has been marked as one of the toughest competitors in the field. The pair finished third at Mid-Ohio Sportscar Course in 2020 further igniting their passion to earn Motel 6 its first win this weekend.

The pair will also share the No. 38 Ligier JS P320, which is gearing up for the first sprint race of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season, the Sports Car Challenge Presented by TLX Type S. After partaking in a 24 hour and a 12 hour race the switch to the two hour and 40-minute format changes everything from strategy and setup to the drivers’ race craft. Goldburg and Lindh will use the additional track time to their advantage as they look to finish on top in both series’ events.

The weekend kicks off on Friday, May 14 with practices for both IMSA Prototype Challenge and the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship. IMSA Prototype Challenge Round 3 can be viewed live through its entirety on Sunday, May 16 from 9:40-11:25 a.m. on NBC Sports Gold TrackPass. The Sports Car Challenge Presented by TLX Type S will be live on NBCSN for the green flag through the checkered on Sunday, May 16 from 2:30-5:20 p.m. For schedule details and ticket sales visit https://www.imsa.com/events/2021-acura-sports-car-challenge-at-mid-ohio/.
