First Finale Done at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta

Performance Tech Motorsports ended the weekend in ninth place after an event filled weekend and race.

The No. 6 Motel 6 Ligier JSP320 enjoyed one final outing in 2021 at the trying and technical Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta. With Dan Goldburg and Rasmus Lindh at the helm, the red and blue machine faced a myriad of obstacles over the weekend upping the level for the duo’s finale. The on-track results were not what the team hoped for but the drivers and crew performance exceeded expectations, ending the 2021 season on a celebratory note.

“I’m really proud of everyone’s performance this season, and especially this weekend,” Team Principal Brent O’Neill said. “We had the Motel 6 team on site as well this weekend so it was really just a great way to wrap up the year. Dan and Rasmus were awesome together and I’m sure like the rest of the team are already scheming on how to make next season our best yet.”

A series of unfortunate events led to Goldburg starting from last place; however, the team had no doubt he was up for the challenge. The race featured a handful of yellow laps to kick off the event due to uncharacteristically cold conditions and a few pirouetting competitors. Once the green fell Goldburg zeroed in on the lead pack and relentlessly pushed towards them. After starting in 16th place he handed the car to Lindh in sixth.

Once settled into the No. 6 Motel 6 Ligier JSP320 Lindh assessed the competition ahead and began playing out his strategy to pick them off, one-by-one. As Lindh entered the final 30 minutes a competitor cut in front of him damaging the nose of the No. 6 beyond repair. He navigated into pitlane, received a new nose and finally finished the event in ninth place.

The No. 6 now heads back to the team headquarters to begin preparation for 2022. In the meantime, the team switches it’s focus to the Motul Petit Le Mans tomorrow, November 13. The No. 38 Centinel Spine Ligier JSP320 takes the green flag at 12:10 p.m. ET, live on NBC.

Dan Goldburg, Driver of No. 6 Motel 6 Ligier JSP320

"We had some pretty big ups and downs this week with the No. 6,” Goldburg said. “Unfortunately I really set us back with an incident in Practice 1 and that put us behind for the rest of the week. Big thanks to the Performance Tech team for getting the car ready for the race. Unfortunately we missed qualifying and started from the back which was challenging. It was cold and wet and I had to make my way through the slower cars at the back of the pack. Through my work on track and a good call on pit stop timing we came out of the pits in fifth place. Rasmus was super fast as always, I think just a couple tenths off fastest lap of the race, but it's hard to pass the Duqueines here, we both had issues with that. It wasn’t Rasmus’s fault when a car spun in front of him, he had no where to go. Unfortunate, but those are the ups and downs of racing!”

“I'm super happy we got to host guests of our sponsor Motel 6. It was great to share the excitement of the event with them. Now we turn our focus to the Petit Le Mans tomorrow."

Rasmus Lindh, Driver of the No. 6 Motel 6 Ligier JSP320

“This was for sure not how we wanted to end the weekend, but we still have to be proud of the progress we made this season,” Lindh said. “As always, thank you Motel 6 and Performance Tech for the opportunity. I’m looking forward to the 10-hour tomorrow and what next season
