Performance Tech Motorsports braces for a turn in the IMSA Prototype Challenge championship tides at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.
The team enters the weekends with its two Ligier LMP3 entries each of which has its unique fight to face to gain traction in the championship. IMSA Prototype Challenge Round 5 serves as the second to last race of the season making it imperative that each of the four drivers strikes this weekend. The 13 Turn, 2.26-mile Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course is known to be relentless and unforgiving on both the cars and drivers marking it as the perfect venue to shake things up in the championship.
Team Principal Brent O’Neill has faith in his drivers to practice patience to reap the rewards to the final two races.
“This has been a weird season but now that we have momentum and are closing in on the last race, I think everyone is getting back in their comfort zone,” O’Neill said. “The last two races always have a ton of carnage so I’m leaving it to my guys to go out there and keep their noses clean. If they can make it out of these races with an undamaged car and a strong finish, I think we can make a strong run for the top of the leaderboard.”
The season-long pairing of Cameron Cassels, British Columbia, and Max Hanratty, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, is back in the No. 75 VB Enviro Care Ligier LMP3. The pair heads into the weekend with their eyes locked and loaded on the podium steps that have eluded them thus far. Sitting seventh in the championship, three points behind Goldburg, and with countless laps driven around Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, both drivers are feeling confident they can excel this weekend.
The signature blue and red No. 6 Motel 6 Ligier LMP3 returns this weekend once more piloted by Dan Goldburg, Del Ray Beach, and Rasmus Lindh, Gothenburg, Sweden. Goldburg currently sits fifth overall in the championship with the top three positions within reach. Lindh looks to help his teammate shore up the necessary points this weekend before heading into the season finale at MICHELIN Raceway Road Atlanta.
The weekend kicks off Friday, Sept. 25 with Practice One at 8:45 a.m. ET, Practice Two at 1:20 p.m. and Qualifying at 5:05 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26 features IMSA Prototype Challenge Round 5 at 4:45 p.m. ET, live through its entirety on NBC Sports Gold TrackPass.
