Performance Tech Motorsports Returns to VIR with Woolridge and Kirby in IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge
Performance Tech Motorsports is motivated and pleased to be returning to VIRginia International Raceway to compete in the upcoming round of the IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge from August 25th to 27th. Drivers Jonathan Woolridge and Alex Kirby will be returning with the team after previously competing with the outfit at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.
After completing some test days at the track the week prior, the team is coming into the upcoming round well prepared for the various challenges of the 3.270 mile, 17-turn track. They will be competing with the #38 and #7 Ligier JSP320s.
The team saw a great deal of success at CTMP earlier this season, as Woolridge claimed the win in dominant fashion in Race 1 in front of his home crowd, while Alex Kirby also went on to claim a podium result with a third-place finish in Race 2. The competitive pedigree of the drivers, combined with the team’s extensive knowledge and experience at VIR, further reinforces Performance Tech Motorsports’ objective of securing the best results possible and walking away with more hardware.
"The wait is finally over and we cannot wait to get the number 38 car back on track this weekend,” exclaimed Jonathan Woolridge. “Performance Tech Motorsports has had a huge amount of success in the past at VIR, and our goal for this weekend is to continue adding to that success here. I myself am extremely excited to climb back in the #38 car and drive to the best of my abilities. VIR is an incredibly impressive track and it will be quite a rollercoaster to experience it with the LMP3 this weekend."
“We just finished up a good day of testing at VIR last week and I’m very excited to be heading back for the upcoming VP Racing SportsCar Challenge races,” echoed Alex Kirby. “It was my first experience driving at VIR and I learned how quickly the track tests your commitment and bravery through a lot of the high speed sections. Passing opportunities are limited here, so we'll need a bit of luck on timing when we approach the GT4's. I’m greatly looking forward to another successful weekend with Performance Tech Motorsports!”
The team will take to the track Friday, August 25th, for two 30 minute practice sessions. Qualifying will take place on Saturday morning, followed by Race 1 in the early afternoon. The weekend will wrap up with Race 2 on Sunday.
