High Ambitions for Performance Tech Motorsports at Daytona

Performance Tech Motorsports has been keeping busy while the team gears up for the upcoming Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona that will take place at the end of January at the famed Daytona International Speedway.

Their #38 Ligier JSP320s will be commanded by seasoned driver John DeAngelis, GT expert Connor Bloum and returning prototype sensations Cameron Shields and Christopher Allen.

“We are extremely excited about our Rolex 24 lineup,” stated Brent O’Neill, Team Principal. “We have proven ourselves to be podium contenders, so we expect to bring home some hardware from Daytona. This is the most prestigious race of the season, and our great group of drivers is more than capable of racing around the clock and putting our Performance Tech Motorsports #38 Ligier JSP320s on the top step.”

The Rolex 24 event will take place across two weekends; the Roar Before the 24, where teams will get the chance to test their limits on the Friday and Saturday, followed by the qualifying session on the Sunday. The Rolex 24 action will start on the following Thursday, with final practice sessions before the start of the race at 1:40 PM ET on Saturday, January 28th.

Quotes:

John DeAngelis: “I’m incredibly excited to race in the 61st running of the Rolex 24, which is the pinnacle of endurance racing. To be driving with the Performance Tech Motorsports team and to race among some of the best drivers in the world is a true blessing and rare privilege.”

Cameron Shields: “I'm really happy to be partnering with PerformanceTech Motorsports for the 2023 Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona! Throughout the 2022 season, the team and I shared a lot of success, with multiple podium finishes in the Endurance Cup, and we will be aiming to build on that momentum for this upcoming season.

After working with Connor, John and Chris at an earlier test, I'm very confident that we have a strong lineup to contest for a Rolex at Daytona! It's a grueling race to see through to the finish.

However, our training regiments have picked up in the final month, both physically and on the simulators to be prepared for the event.”

Connor Bloum: “After two years away from IMSA, I'm really looking forward to getting the season started at Daytona! To be making my comeback with Cameron, Chris and John with such an accomplished team like Performance Tech Motorsports in the LMP3 class is an incredible opportunity. I'm very thankful and know we'll have the best chance of winning with so many great people involved!”

Christopher Allen: “I am simply thrilled to have the opportunity to be a part of the Performance Tech team at this year's Daytona 24 Hour. For the last few years, I could only secure a seat riding around on the infield tram, so the #38 Ligier is a significant upgrade. We’ve got a great driver lineup, and it will be a privilege to freeze my rump off in 2023, but I'm looking forward to doing it from inside the car this time around.
