Performance Tech Motorsports is Ready to Roar into 2022
Performance Tech Motorsports is charging into the 2022 season at the Roar Before the Rolex 24.
As a new season dawns Performance Tech Motorsports makes the well-practiced migration north to Daytona International Speedway. The team is set to settle into the World Center of Racing for a two-week stay kicking off with IMSA Prototype Challenge Round One and the official test weekend for the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship. While the shortened off season and supply chain issues have caused many teams to falter and enter the weekend behind schedule, Team Principal Brent O’Neill is confident his group will pick up right where they left off in 2021.
“We definitely are in a good spot entering this weekend,” O’Neill said. “We’ve been running this car for a few years now and have seen little turnover in our crew. All of the communication and mechanical quirks we worked out last season can be carried through, so we know we all will be working together as effectively as possible. It’s always great to start the season with both cars under one tent, it sets everyone’s morale in the right tone and really just provides us with a great foundation to move forward on.”
The No. 38 Ligier JSP320 will welcome three new drivers to the team this weekend in the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship. Team veteran Dan Goldburg will lead the charge of acclimating Nico Pino, Hikaru Abe, and Garett Grist to the red and black machine. After two days of testing the group will hand the reins to Pino and Abe to partake in the Motul Pole Award 100 on Sunday, January 23, the 100 sprint race that will determine the starting grid for the 60th running of the Rolex 24 at Daytona.
The No. 6 Ligier JSP320 is prepped and primed for its third season of IMSA Prototype Challenge.
With Dan Goldburg and Oscar Bitar behind the wheel, the No. 6 will face a high-stakes weekend as it makes its 2022 debut and takes the green flag for Round One all within two days. The team has maximized its testing in the off season to ensure the drivers and car are ready to make nothing short of an exceptional entrance to the 2022 season.
The weekend begins Thursday, January 20, with a full day of media obligations for the car and drivers. Friday, January 21, sees a full day of practice for both the IPC and IWSC car, ending with IPC Qualifying at 6:15 p.m. ET. Things heat up on Saturday, January 22, as the No. 6 takes the green flag for IPC Round 1 at 12:05 p.m. live on NBC Sports Gold TrackPass. The race is quickly followed by qualifying for the No. 38 at 3:50 p.m. Finally, the event comes to a close on Sunday, January 23, with the qualifying race, The Motul Pole 100, at 2:05 p.m. live on NBC Sports Gold Track Pass.
