Performance Tech Motorsports Loves New York
Performance Tech Motorsports is looking for redemption at Watkins Glen International.
The team is capping off its 10-day stay in upstate New York with IMSA Prototype Challenge Round 4 and the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship WeatherTech 240. Following a trying Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen the team looks to reclaim its success streak at the track during the two-day event, July 1-2. Drivers Dan Goldburg, Mateo Llarena and Rasmus Lindh will return with the team with Goldburg and Lindh piloting the No. 6 Motel 6 Ligier JSP320 and Llarena and Lindh sharing the No. 38 Centinel Spine Ligier JSP320.
“This trio of drivers work great together so I’m happy to see them all under the tent again this weekend,” Team Principal Brent O’Neill said. “Motel 6 and Centinel Spine have been such awesome partners over the years we really want to lock in a win during both events for them. We have good data from last week and the crew has been working hard to get the cars ready, so I definitely think we have a fighting chance at this.”
The No. 6 Motel 6 Ligier JSP320 is prepped for its fourth event of the season. With half of the season complete the team looks to lock in the ever-allusive first win for Motel 6 this weekend; a feat that has been within reach before cruelly being ripped away more than once in the past year. The data and seat time from last weekend will be key for Goldburg and Lindh as the series has not competed at Watkins Glen International since 2017 marking the pair as one of the only in the field to have real experience at the circuit.
The No. 38 Centinel Spine Ligier JSP320 is back for its second event at Watkins Glen International donning a new engine after the catastrophic failure during the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen. The team rushed to JFK international on Monday, June 28, to retrieve the engine that had been rush shipped from France. After a twelve-hour round trip and a long day of hustling from the crew the No. 38 is back in its prime and ready to battle during the WeatherTech 240.
The weekend begins Thursday, July 1, with a full day of practice for IMSA Prototype Challenge and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship capped off with qualifying for both series. Friday, July 2, is action packed with IMSA Prototype Challenge Round 4 at 11:45 a.m. ET, the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship fan walk at 5:05 p.m. an the WeatherTech 240 at 6:10 p.m. For schedule details and ticket sales visit https://www.imsa.com/events/2021-watkins-glen-international-2/.
