Cassels to Fly Performance Tech Motorsports Banner in IMSA iRacing Pro Series
Performance Tech Motorsports Driver Cameron Cassels is going virtual for the IMSA iRacing Pro Series Race Two at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.
Cassels, British Columbia, is one of 50 entrants to take the green flag for the second IMSA sanctioned 90-minute iRace Thursday, April 16. Round 2 is done in single-driver format and use only GT Le Mans Class approved cars; the BMW M8, Porsche 911 RSR, Ferrari 488 and Ford GT. Points will be rewarded to drivers based on finishing position with a champion being crowned at the end of the six-race series on June 11.
Since social distancing regulations have taken effect, Cassels has buckled down on his iRacing seat-time, advancing from a Rookie License to an A License in only one week. Like most drivers, he has used racing simulators in the past to learn new tracks and practice car set up heading into event weekends. However, this is Cassels first time entering a race under Performance Tech's name driving something other than a prototype. Keep your eyes slated for the newly designed No. 75 Performance Tech Motorsports BMW M8 in Cassels the classic Performance Tech red livery.
The virtual green flag falls on WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca at 6:00 p.m. ET on Thursday, April 16. All races will be streamed live on iRacing’s YouTube channel, Twitch channel and Facebook page, which will include commentary from IMSA Radio announcer John Hindhaugh. Pre- and post-race programming is planned for The Torque Show, hosted by Justin Bell and Tommy Kendall.
