Mid-Ohio Sports Car Challenge Postponed
Tuesday, March 17, at 4:00 p.m. ET the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) announced that the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Challenge, May 1-3, is postponed as a precautionary measure due to the spread of the novel coronavirus.
Below find the official statement made by IMSA regarded the fans, teams and key personnel affected by the accumulated race cancellations.
“As announced earlier today by the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) can confirm the Acura Sports Car Challenge at Mid-Ohio will not take place as previously scheduled from May 1-3 following the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announcement regarding limiting public gatherings to no more than 50 people through May 15. This unfortunate news will impact the following IMSA-sanctioned series:
• IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship
• IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge
• IMSA Prototype Challenge
• Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama
IMSA, its partners and the event promoter are discussing rescheduling this event at a later date in 2020. IMSA will promptly communicate any updates as further information is made available.”
