16-year-old Tristan Nunez stunned race fans at Road Atlanta as he crossed the finished line on Thursday afternoon in third place after dropping the depth of the field from first place due to a drive through penalty, putting his potential championship in limbo. The IMSA Lites driver then advanced 14 positions to finish on the podium and clinch the Cooper Tires Prototype Lites Powered by Mazda Series' point's championship. In doing so, he became the youngest point's champion in the series' history, the fifth American to secure the title, and gave his Performance Tech Motorsports team their first team championship title in IMSA Lites.
